Overall, this product gave me what I was looking for, though it was not ideal. I purchased this to take my Amazon parrot on Alaska air, which, for in-cabin travel, has a height limit of 9.5" for soft-sided carriers. I purchased the medium-sized carrier, which is listed online as 9" tall. However, the carrier I received was actually 10" tall. I was nervous that it wouldn't fit, but it did (barely) compress enough to slide under the airplane seat, and the extra height ended up being a good thing because 9" would have been much too small for my parrot. (Even 10" was a little cramped for him).I found this carrier after hours of searching online. Most carriers say they are fine for air travel, but they are actually much taller than the 9.5" limit. (Maybe Alaska Air has especially small dimensions compared to other airlines?). This carrier was the best I could do. And I thought it was a great buy for the price. Plus, it's a nice design that can easily be unzipped and flattened.The two major downsides are that 1) the carrier is not as sturdy as I would have liked for a long flight. As you can see in the photo, my parrot was able to chew through the seam. 2) The chemical smell when I first opened the package was very strong. It's best to buy this at least a week ahead of when you plan to use it so that you can give it time to off-gas whatever nasty chemicals are making that smell. I wouldn't have felt safe putting my parrot in there right away because of the fumes.I would have given a perfect review. If not for one thing. It’s a great carrier. And comes with a perch. I know my birds will not be able to escape and fly off. But it comes wrapped with a protective plastic sheet, to keep it nice during shipping. However it does not peel off in one piece. It is sewn into it carrier itself. Which means I spent the good part of an hour to pick off the tiny pieces of plastic from the inside with tweezers. Birds and other small creatures tend to eat everything. So these plastic pieces can be deadly if not removed in entirety.Aside from that it’s an amazing carrier and the price is great! Just be ready to work before putting your pet inside.I actually ordered another one that wasn’t as bad. But still felt the need to make other shoppers aware.This carrier is excellent for my little five-month-old cockatiel. I take walks with her around my neighborhood and if I’m doing any yardwork I put her in it because we have a hawk in our neighborhood. She does well in it as long as she can see me and seems satisfied. This carrier is easy to clean, is sturdy. The zippers on each end are sturdy to zip and unzip. I like the fact that there are holes on each side for cross ventilation while it’s in use. This was a wonderful purchase for my little cocktail with me. I would recommend this item for anyone who wants to bring their bird with them wherever they go.I wasn't sure about it at first. I wasn't sure it was secure enough. My bird, an African Gray was not even scared of it. The perch was just the right size for him also. The only thing I was worried about is that the zipper is not very heavy and not metal, & very thin. It is only One piece very long that goes all the way around the entire thing. If it ever opens up, I would worry about it. Lets hope it is really secure.esta bueno.The bird cage carrier was easy to put together. I liked the birds could see out side and it is easy to cary. I have not used it yet, but I am concerned how easy it will be to put a canary in it, since canary do not like to be handled.I have a cockatiel and at first it seemed like it would be a bit small for him but he traveled really well in this carrier. He loved the perch that came with it as well.Very essy to assemble and assemble for easy storage. Nice to be able to take the birds outside for fresh air.
