I bought this after reading a glowing review for it on another site. The Four Little Pigs is about a young boy named Tom whose Granny just happens to be a witch. Granny does not have a TV, but she has lots of books. Tom thinks fairy tales are boring though, so Gran livens things up with a spell that transports Tom into the story of the Three Little Pigs, and gives him a pigs nose as well, although the rest of him remains human. Now Tom must outsmart the wolf and rescue the first two pigs - who if you read the older non Disney version of the tale ended up eaten! Things go quite well at first and Tom is the hero of the pigs - but he forgets the ending - will they live happily ever after? I really liked this book. the illustrations are lovely and the story is very entertaining. I especially like the pages of this book, which a re just a bit thicker then most, making this ideal for very young children. My sons are 2 and 5 and both enjoyed the book, but only the younger child is prepared to read it over and over again. My two year really loves this book and I think his favourite part is a section in which Tom uses black pepper to foil the wolf's huffing and puffing. My son just loves the sneezing fit. There are plenty of opportunities to create fun sound effects in this book, which make it ideal for very young children - although less then ideal for sitting in the Dr.'s surgery waiting your turn! Overall we enjoyed this book enough that I logged onto Amazon to see if the author had any other books we might try. Unfortunately, she does not, at least not yet. We will certainly be watching out for more books from this very talented writer though.
